Health Benefits of Turmeric Soup

Turmeric is a spice with many healing properties. For a long time, it has been known that haldi doodh or turmeric milk helps to heal injuries and to give the immune system a boost. The spice is native to southern India, where it has ideal conditions to grow like hot, humid summers and plenty of rainfall. Turmeric grows in 22 Indian states and has long been a staple in Indian kitchens. 

Turmeric has potent antioxidant, anti-mutagenic, and anti-inflammatory properties. The spice is full of substances that are anti-viral and anti-bacterial. One of the elements, lipopolysaccharide helps to boost immunity. 

Curcumin triggers bile production, that is one of the main digestive components. The increase of bile juice secretion aids in smoother digestion through body tracts. 

Turmeric has become known as a superfood because with its ability to help in digestion, and with its detox properties, it allows people to lose weight. Its anti-inflammatory properties help to relieve the symptoms that come with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The multitude of antioxidants in the spice can help slow down the free radical activity. Curcumin can also help delay the onset of type-2 diabetes in people with pre-diabetes. It also helps to moderate levels of insulin and helps to boost the effect of medications used to treat diabetes.

One of the ways to get all the health benefits of turmeric is through haldi doodh or turmeric milk. However, for those who do not like the taste of milk, a delicious turmeric soup can be the answer. The consumption of this soup is an excellent way to ingest vitamins and to help keep the body hydrated. With added ingredients like garlic, onions, and ginger, this soup is excellent when the weather is not favorable. 

For a delicious turmeric soup combine the following ingredients:

A 2-inch piece of grated fresh turmeric, 1 ½ tablespoon of grated ginger, one tablespoon of minced garlic, one chopped white onion, 4 cups of vegetable stock, and three diced carrots.

In a large pot, heat a tablespoon of olive oil. Then add onion and sauté well. Add garlic, turmeric, and ginger sauté and finally add the carrots. Pour in the vegetable stock and bring to boil then lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Once the carrots are soft, pour the mixture into a blender and give it a quick turn. Serve the soup hot, and you can add a squeeze of lemon.

  3. I don’t think I will love the taste of turmeric soup, but I believe I must try this because this is one of the best ways to add turmeric to your diet.

  5. I think title is misleading. When you are making turmeric soup, your soup is not entirely based on turmeric. Turmeric is just one of the ingredients.
